Office Cleaning Checklist: Daily, Weekly and Periodic Tasks
By Stone & Key · Published · Last updated
This office cleaning checklist groups tasks by how often they're typically done and by area, so you can see what a thorough routine looks like. Use it to check your current cleaning or as the basis of a specification for a contractor.
The right frequency for each task depends on how your office is used, so treat the groupings as a starting point.

How to use this checklist
A busy office with a well-used kitchen may need tasks from the "each visit" list done daily; a small, quiet office may be fine with them weekly. See how often an office should be cleaned for help deciding.

- Clean and disinfect toilets, urinals, basins and taps
- Clean washroom mirrors and wipe dispensers
- Check and restock consumables (if included)
- Clean kitchen worktops, sink, taps and tables
- Wipe microwave and appliance exteriors
- Wipe touchpoints: handles, push plates, switches, lift buttons
- Vacuum main walkways and mop hard floors in kitchens and washrooms
- Tidy and wipe reception desk and seating area

Turning the checklist into a cleaning specification
- List every area of your premises.
- For each area, tick the tasks you need.
- Set a frequency for each task — every visit, weekly, monthly.
- Add practical details: access times, alarm and key arrangements, areas not to clean.
- Say who supplies products and consumables.
- Agree how problems will be reported and put right.
Ask every provider to quote against the same specification so you can compare like for like. For more on what's usually included, see what office cleaning includes, and for comparing providers, our guide to choosing a commercial cleaning company.
Frequently asked questions
Should every task on the checklist be done daily?
No. The checklist groups tasks by typical frequency, but the right schedule depends on how the office is used. A lightly used meeting room doesn't need the same attention as a busy kitchen.
Can I give this checklist to a cleaning company?
Yes — it's a good starting point. Mark which tasks apply, how often, and anything specific to your premises, then ask providers to quote against it.
